Scissor Sisters‘ Halloween gig at London’s Brixton Academy is set to be webcast.

The gig, which takes place tomorrow night (October 31) will go live on Global-Cool.com.

To watch, fans have to log on to the site and make a pledge to reduce their carbon emissions. Not only will they be able to see highlights of the performance, but all Scissor Sisters fans gain access to backstage footage of the band getting ready before the party.

Scissor Sisters guitarist Babydaddy said: “This special gig is a big thank you to all our fans. It’s set to be an amazing night and by showing the gig on Global-cool.com, it not only means that everyone can enjoy the party, but also raises awareness of their cause by highlighting the importance of saving our planet.”

Wales finest, after ever-fine Catherine Zeta Jones, Stereophonics are back in the studio recording their follow-up to US breakthrough album Dakota. According to Kelly’s latest blog post on MySpace the untitled album will have 12 tracks and will be out “mid to late next year.”

Also out next year, before their album, will be “Rewind,” a celebration of their first album release 10 years ago, and will include a film, “great extras, including live tracks from the past ten years, the unseen J.E.E.P. preview acoustic tour movie, and footage of the other ten tracks from Live From Dakota.”

Got an email from the kids in The Big Sleep with dates of when they’re performing for CMJ, the big motherfucking yearly music showcase/panel/whatever here in NYC. Apparently carrying around a pick qualifies you to perform.

Dis aside, The Big Sleep are really a great band. They opened for Editors at Webster Hall earlier this year and totally blew me away. They recently released their debut album, Son of the Tiger, and I rank it as one of the best semi-ignored indie releases of the year.

please pardon the appearance of my wee site. i’m moving hosts. fuitadnet was just too shitty for my tastes (ftp? we don’t need no stinking ftp!). Hostgator is the new home. You can still access the olde site if you so wish… for the time being.

also, be sure to update your feedreader to the new feed location. since it’s much easier to install wordpress (push of a button) than it is to install moveable type (lots of files), i’ve done so. sadly that affects the URI for the XML feed. that’s the price one has to pay if they’re too lazy to deal with third-party feed providers.

Pitchfork reports that a book on Rough Trade, one of the more storied Indie labels in the UK (outside of Factory), from the golden 80’s, is on the way. Rough Trade was home to The Smiths, and it was said (in books I’ve read about said saintly band) that RT and The Smiths single-handedly revived the indie scene in the early 80s. Whether or not that’s true…
